‘Classical Romp’

My only complete and performed composition to date is a light classical piano piece called Classical Romp. It is 15 minutes long and comprises three standalone parts. You could call it my Opus 1. The pianist is Fiona Chua.

Part 1: Exuberance (3:25)
This first part is my celebration, my excitement, of writing simple melodies and having them played. It starts with a very simple melody with lots of bounce, and the whole part reflects the buzz I got composing it.
> Listen to 30 second sample

Part 2: Reflections (7:01)
I guess that says it all. There are some lovely reflective melodies for chilling out - feel the stress slowly seeping out of you.
> Listen to 30 second sample

Part 3: Classical Romp (4:34)
More melodies: simple, lively. I had a ball writing this music! And Fiona had a ball playing it!
> Listen to 30 second sample

Classical Romp does not need explanation - there are no moments of grandeur or deep meaningful thought or philosophical meanderings. Just melodies to make you happy.

The full performance is available either as a single download, or any combination of parts. A CD is also available for purchase.

The music in hard copy or pdf format is available for performers.

Other Completed Works

I have completed one other work which was submitted (unsuccessfully!) for a competition. It is about 7.5 minutes long and is a celebratory piece for organ and SATB choir. Again it is a fun piece which starts with a variation on the Happy Birthday theme but quickly segues into its own themes. An electronic performance in WAVE audio file format is available. Transposing for any instrument combination should pose no problems. If you like my piano-writing style you may also like this piece!
